About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Do you remember that commercial?  I think it was for Alka-Seltzer.

That's kind of how we felt when we were done at the Golden Corral...and we didn't even go for dessert!  But, we did NOT eat breakfast which we  most likely should have.

I enjoy people watching, especially people at buffets.  My observation this year provided the following info; grown up people who might weigh 100 pounds (give or take) and wear skinny jeans aren't worried about their food intake.  However, I found that NORMAL size people were mainly dressed in stretch jeans, knit stretch pants (must've had to dig deep in the closet for those), very baggy sweat pants or long shirt-tails worn out of the slacks or jeans in order to cover an opened zipper or snap, or undone belt.

We fit in that category; Dan with his baggy jeans and me with my stretchy jeans.  We parked far enough away from the entrance and on the downhill side to Golden Corral so we would get a BIT of exercise getting to our truck.  WOOOO-EEEEE!  People we didn't even know would say things like "Can you believe that food??" and rub their tummy's on the way by as well as  hiking up their sweat pants.

So, when we got home, we each had different goals.  Dan's was to watch TV and relax.  Here's him "watching" TV and for sure relaxing....

He was so relaxed that he didn't even know that I left for a walk nor did he know that I even came back!  I could have been kidnapped and he wouldn't have known it!  GEEZ!!!

MY goal upon arriving home was to brush my teeth and then fall down, NOT FACE FIRST, on the bed.  I did brush my teeth but then decided the smartest thing to do would be go for a walk.   THEN I fell onto the bed.

We finally had a campfire late the other afternoon.  Dan complains that I never post any photos that he takes of me, so to keep Dan the Man happy, here is a shot he took of me.  He was inside the 5th wheel shooting thru the window.

Since we had picked up a LOT of oak firewood from the Piedmont campground after the deer hunt, we figured sometime this weekend we'd burn some hot dogs.  However we don't HAVE any hot dogs and neither one of us wanted to stop anyplace today to pick up any food type of any kind due to stuffing our faces just minutes before and I doubt we'll waste the fuel to run 18 miles to get a pack of hot dogs!  But we can at least have a nice campfire!!  Care to join us!?

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family and friends!

  1. that pic of the campfire definitely makes me long for summer!!!!!

  2. Hi Cathy,

Ahhh Buffets! Sometimes ya just gotta jump in and go for it, stretch pants and all. I recently did one and LOVED it... Then I took a long nap ;-)

The campfire looks nice. My family in Ohio has them all the time. I love the way they smell.

Stop by, I'm having a Christmas Giveaway!
