OK! We have started to pack our 5th wheel.
Of course the clothing and kitchen stuff is up to me. And since we will be going thru various types of weather, it is hard to decide just what to take and what not to take...problem solved...take them all!!!!
Nah, not really. But I AM going prepared with two pair (tops and bottoms) long underwear for me and Dan gets two bottoms. He doesn't like the tops. Heavy socks and lights socks, check. Long sleeved blouses and 3/4 sleeve blouses. Check. How many pull over sweaters to take? Oh, and of course the long sleeved knit pullovers that can go on UNDER the pull over sweaters. Winter jammies or summer? BOTH. I only own two pairs of shoes so that part is easy. Coats? A winter coat, and a rain coat and an in-between coat. AND at least 3 pairs of jeans, ONE pair of capripants. Oh, and I have to take the pair of jeans that I wore last year when we were using yellow paint (they have yellow paint on them so they are now work jeans).
Dan will have 7 of everything except for 3 pull over knit sweaters, 3 jeans and 3 sweatshirts. He's on his own as far as which shoes he plans on taking.
Then, of course, there are our official working clothes from the NWR, which includes two each denim type dressier short sleeve shirts, two each t-shirts, 1 each light weight fleece zip up jacket and our caps and work gloves.
I'm packing my crutches again this year. I spent so much time falling down last year in the woods last year and the fact that I have one knee that will eventually need to have a scope, so I keep the crutches handy. Dan will be taking some assorted hunting equipment. And of course there is the camera's, computers, a box of books in case I feel like reading.
We've gotten pretty good for packing for being gone 6 months! AND the even better part is I've gotten so I remember to leave some clothes at home so when we GET home we've still got clean clothing to wear while we are getting everything unpacked and washed!
So, if you don't hear from me for a while, you know what's going on! PACKING!!!
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
