About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

ALMOST TIME!!!

10 days from today and we close for the season.

11 days from today and we head out of here for the winter.

Are we excited?  Yes!!!  Will it help our blood pressure?  YES!!!

We have a lot to get done between now and then and we've been busy trying to get things done.

But we do still have campers and lodging guests so we need to try to be available for them.

One of our lodging guests is here on their honeymoon.  They arrived about 4 days ago and we really haven't seen much of them at all.  They have quite a stack of firewood by the cabin, but I don't think they've even come out long enough to make a campfire!!

We have an assortment of hunters; grouse, bear and deer (bow season started on the 1st.).  There is still a lot of leaves on the trees so the grouse hunters are having a difficult time getting good shots.

Dan and I have been surprised that our fall colors ended up as colorful as they did, considering how stressed the trees were all summer.  They haven't lasted as long as they normally do, but they have been pretty.

And, when it gets this time of year, Dan thinks about home made caramel corn and/or apple crisp.  So far we have had the apple crisp but no caramel corn...YET!

My elbow area is doing much better but I have hard spots on each side of each incision and they are still black and blue.  I don't know if this is considered normal or not, so I suppose I should at least try to see the nurse next week.

That's about all for now!!

Hope all is well with  you!

  1. Hope the elbow thingie isn't too much trouble ~ bummer. Have you ever taken candy corns and roasted peanuts in your mouth at the same time... yum! Taste just like a salted nut roll. I keep the two mixed together in the candy dish. Caramel corn sounds good too. I love all the sweet things; too bad they don't like me. ... 2 cute about the honeymooners wood pile not going down:)

    1. Mel, I haven't tried the candy corn and peanut thing. Sounds like a good recipe for some "trail mix"!
