The tree swallows and their young left a couple of days before July 4th.
Some of the juvenile hummers are at the feeders (normally we don't see them till August)
THE BLACKBIRDS ARE FLOCKING UP!!! We normally don't see this till towards the 3rd week of August. We are seeing many redwing blackbirds at the feeders again and normally after their "spring fling" we don't see them in the yard again till fall.
IS THE APOCALYPSE COMING? DO WE TAKE OUR CUES FROM THE BIRDS??
This is all very strange, at least to us.
It has cooled down a bit this week, but expected to be hot again by the weekend. Camping came to about a screeching halt this week too...not sure what is up with that, but currently we have close to 1/2 the campers that we had at this same time LAST year. This is scary since reservations were so strong for May and the first part of July. We aren't getting nearly the amount of drive ups that we normally would. We still have a LOT of reservations, but we just aren't seeing the campers on the road like before.
Speaking of cooling off, how about those people still without power meaning no a/c, no fans and who knows if there is any ice left to speak of? I have to say that there is a group of people who are kind of thumbing their nose(s) at the English (meaning people who live in America)...photo to prove it....
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
