ROAD CLOSURES ON C.R. 414 UP TO C.R. 410 AND C.R. ROAD 500 FROM M-123 TO LITTLE LAKE HARBOR REMAIN CLOSED. INITIALLY
THE 1.5 WIDE FIRE HEAD PASSED BY PIKE LAKE TO THE WEST REACHING THE
LAKE SUPERIOR SHORE AT APPROX. 9:40 PM. DURING THE NIGHT AT 2:00 AM AS A
WEATHER FRONT PASSED THROUGH THE AREA, THE WINDS SHIFTED TO THE
WEST/NORTHWEST. LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED WINDS ESTIMATED GREATHER THAN
50 MPH WITH THE SHIFT. WHAT HAD BEEN THE EAST FLANK NORTH OF PIKE LAKE
BECAME THE HEAD AND A CONFLAGRATION ERUPTED AS HE FIRE RACED TO THE
EAST/NORTHEAST. STURCTURE LOSS HAS OCCURED, HOWEVER NO SPECIFICS AT
THIS TIME WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE RAINBOW LODGE WHICH IS A TOTAL LOSS.
SOMETIME THIS AFTERNOON AIR SUPPORT WILL ARRIVE WHICH INCLUDES TWO WATER BOMBERS AND A HELICOPTER.
MANDATORY EVACTUATION: THOSE IN THE VICINITY IMMEDIATELY TO THE EAST OF PIKE LAKE ARE TOLD TO LEAVE THE AREA.

- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us.
