About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

THINGS THAT ARE CREEPY IN THE NIGHT..AND WELL, DURING THE DAY TOO

I also call this series CONFRONTING MY FEARS.  You KNOW I hate spiders, but am fascinated by their handy-work.

The bottom photos shows a bit of what this whole web looks like in the light of day.  So, when I saw that hole in the fence post, I was curious what kind of spider lurked within.

We went out after dark, with a flashlight and a 308 Winchester (just in case it was a really big something that lives in that hole) and THIS is what we encountered!

Then after about 6 hours of thinking about this damn big spider, and looking at the photos, it dawned on me....WOLF spiders do not live in cobwebs as far as we know.  They make holes in the ground and live in them (they like to jump out at you and yell SURPRISE!!)

SOOOO, we never did find out what lived in that hole, but the wolf spider must have been waiting for whatever it was.

brrrrrrr.......................
