About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

REALLY, REALLY NUTTIN' MUCH

I've been so busy with my laptop and photo website that my life has become a bit on the boring side.

The most eventful thing was my annual mammogram  yesterday morning.  I have always wondered why it is that the female technician takes you into the room, gives you a mini-gown, tells you to strip from the neck down (leave jewelry and glasses on if you want), then as she's walking out of this little area, she closes the curtain between you and she (her??) to give you some privacy to "change".

Then you let her know you are decent.  She comes in, tells you to remove your right arm from the gown and proceeds to put your boob on the squisher where she wants it.  WHY BOTHER WITH THE PRIVACY OF CHANGING???

Then the 2nd most eventful thing was getting a new and smaller crockpot yesterday.  My best friend Anne, had given us a HUGE one several years ago.  For the past several months it has two temp settings instead of three...high and keep warm.  Low gave up on us.  So, I bought a new crockpot yesterday and downsized to a 4 quart instead of what I think had to have been at least a 7 quart!  It would be very useful for someone who entertains a lot...or feeds a thrashing crew.

I haven't been taking walks in a LONG time.  I've been walking out to the bathhouse and back in the morning and that is about it.  I really need to get back into it.  So, I decided this morning after I got done checking/cleaning the bathhouse to take a walk.  I headed down the road that goes around all of our tent sites.

As I was walking easterly, I noticed the low fog in the pine trees and the sun behind the trees.  IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL!  All of those rays of light casting shadows through the fog...

I beat foot it back to the house, grabbed my camera and went back out.  I figured the spectacular scene would have dissipated by the time I returned....and it had.  But I tried to get some shots any way.  They are still on my camera and if any turn out I'll be more than happy to share!  Aren't you excited to know that??!!!

Things have really slowed down!  We only had 13 campers last night!  At least the bathhouse stays a lot cleaner this way!

Sooooo, I hear Dan in the kitchen rattling pots and pans, so that means he's either making a cup of coffee or is planning on cooking breakfast!

Take care!!

  1. These are beautiful mornings, aren't they. I've noticed that Soo Locks Campground numbers have been down the past week. That is too bad because the weather has been the best of the summer-in my opinion.

  2. Brenda, I appreciate you sharing that info. I always feel like "what did we do wrong" when it slows right down. I don't think it will ever be like it use to be...camping I mean.

  3. Cathy, We drive by Soo Locks Campground whenever we go to the Soo. That haven't been full all summer. In fact, last weekend was the worst since June. I always feel bad when I see so many open spots. It is such a short season here in the north.
