There were some good and funny guesses for the previous post.
It IS for removing ticks and it works really slick! I discovered a tick on my leg about a week ago and it didn't look like he'd been there too long. Dan got this little doo-hicky out of the truck and got it off (the head with the body!!) with no problem.
We were each given one of these tick removers when we worked at Alligator River NWR. We were also each given a bear horn (which we never used...can you imagine one of those things going off in the middle of the night in OUR park??? Some people. in the dark and usually in tents, mistake big dogs for bears. It's bad enough when someone rolls over on their car or truck keys and their alarm goes off!)
Hope you all have a great, and SAFE 4th of July!!!

- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
