About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Since arriving here and settling in, Dan and I have been playing two different lotto games.  One is the mega millions and the other is the power play.

We both get a tinge of excitement when we see that the first number matches either one of us.

For years, if I wake up in the night and look at the clock it always is 4:10, so I've been playing "gun gauges"...4-10-16-22-33-44.  ONCE I won about $50 from the 410 numbers (ages ago).  So I've stuck with them.  I'm not sure what Dan's numbers are, but he always plays the same ones.

Soooo the drawing for the $76 million was the other night, and with anticipation I looked up the numbers....

THEN we went to Kohl's.  I've never been there before!  I'm still shopping for bras and a sports bra. I wanted a sweater or maybe two and Dan wanted me to get a jacket that "fits better".

Everything was on sale!!!!  And I've never seen so many undies in one place!!!  And I found many, many sweaters!  Pretty, warm, cuddly sweaters!  Sweaters that were marked down from $50 to $15 or from $35 to $10.80.  I picked out about 4 of them and found another one I thought about.  Then I realized that yes, I had read the care label but this one stated "Lay flat to dry".  I have NO place to lay ANYTHING flat to dry!  Then I checked the 3 or 4 I had in my arm and they also had to be laid flat to dry!

So, they all went back on the various racks from which they came.

BUT I did find a jacket!  A cute short denim jacket!  But I really didn't want to spend $44.00 on a jacket that wouldn't get worn a lot.  The bras were all marked down to half price and these were good, quality bras.  But I still needed to find a sports bra.

A nice lady directed me to a selection of about 1/8th of an acre (the other bras were in about a 1/2 acre...so many, so little time!!!) where the sports bras were.  With her assistance I found what I needed for my comfort/bounce level and it was over $45.00!!  GOOD LORD!!!  The jacket was already going to be $44.00, and I had 3 bras at 1/2 price (which was still about $20 a piece) and now THIS!?  HOLY WAH!

But I needed these things.

I went in search of a checkout counter (Good old Dan was sitting in the truck ALL this time.  He knew I'd be a while because things had to be tried on, etc).  When the gal rang up my charges, she said "You saved $18.01 on the jacket and another $15.60 on the sports bra!"

I HIT THE JACKPOT!!  It was ALMOST as good as winning a lottery!  Actually I really WOULD have had at least a PART of that lottery jackpot, but this was a good shopping experience and you KNOW how I hate shopping!

Cathy,Cathy, Cathy! I love Kohls but you didn't find the really good racks. I usually find something wonderful on the 80% off racks. They have good mens stuff too! And they always have some extra % coupons out. The last time I just asked at the checkout and got another 20% off. It is really fun to shop there. Good merchandise at great prices.
    Happy shopping.

  2. Cathy, I really thought you were going to say that you won the lottery. I would have been very happy to hear that for you. We're on our way south. We're in North Carolina right now and the warm weather is so good for the soul. What a wonderful feeling to walk outside without a jacket. Also knowing that they are having an ice storm back home tonight makes the south even better.

I have never been to Kohls that there wasn't a sale going on.

  4. Sandy, I wish I could have gotten Dan interested in looking at some jeans for him, but he's been patient about my sudden interest in shopping and decided to stay in the truck...that and he hopes to shed some pounds!

Anonymous...good to know! If I ever get close to another one I'll remember that!
