About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

The other day I posted two photos of 'main street' in Juliette, GA.  This is the little town made famous by the movie Fried Green Tomatoes.

These photos of the 'dam site' are also from that town.  There were a lot of private property signs posted and a couple of dogs (one was 3 legged) so I couldn't get very close.  I did not bring my tripod with me this year so I am extremely pleased that my photos with my new camera are turning out as well as they do.  The camera has two features to try to compensate for camera shake.  I wish I could have gotten closer but these will suffice for our memories...or until we get back there next year and maybe get permission to get closer!

(There are two posts today so don't forget to scroll down!!)

  4. Love, love the mist in these shots!

  5. Beautiful pics. You're missing some cold weather up here. The sun was shining yesterday though, which looks wonderful on the snow.

I've been reading your blog for years and have enjoyed the photos and the stories you share with us. I really am interested in your new camera and have reada up on it. I jsut wondered how far away you were from the falls.

  7. Dick, arent you the one with the pun!

Cher, HA! Thanks!! You can bring the scrabble board but I can't guarantee I'll have time to set down and Scrabble with ya. It'd be fun though! I get tired of just the computer!

Sandy, thanks! I wish I could have gotten closer! Hopefully next fall I can!

Retired One, Thanks! I know you enjoy taking shots in the fog and mist too.

Brenda, I've been checking the temps up that way every morning! Glad we're here!! Although this a.m. it was below 20. The water line to our kitchen sink is frozen!
    Everything else is fine though.

Anonymous, I think I was probably 1/2 a football field length away from the falls. I am pleased that they weren't blurry. I'll have more info about my camera as I get a chance to "play with it".
