About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

overlooking Carters Lake near Ellijay

The above photo was taken at Carters Lake (another Corp reservoir) near Ellijay Ga.

scenes from the Appalachian foothills, Georgia

This photo is also from Carter's Lake.  Notice the smoke in the photo?  This area of Georgia has been under extreme fire danger for a very long time so we were kind of worried when we saw the smoke.  We guessed since no one else seemed excited it was ok!  Anyway, at the elevation we were at, you could see the blue of the Blue Ridge Mts in the distance.

This is the beginning of our 4 days on work schedule so not much going on in our lives at the moment.  Dan is out raking up the pine needles again.  The past couple of days have been windy and a bit rainy and it really takes the needles down from the trees.  The trees have needles that are longer than our white pines back home; probably about twice as long.  Down here, they "bale" these needles and sell it as pine straw.  We'd probably have enough needles out here that Dan has raked up we could take care of every stable between here and Lexington, KY!

Enjoy  your day!

  1. How beautiful!! I love the mountains down there...we have never been there when they are in full color, though..just gorgeous!

  2. Retired One, we have been surprised how long the colors have lasted here!
