About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

We can see the level of the reservoir is slowly going down.  The end we are at is more or less at the tail end of it where Clark Creek runs into the reservoir (or visa versa??)

As the water recedes more and more shoreline and rocks are visable.  Tonight at the lowest end, down by Clark Creek, there were at least 60 sand hill cranes.  I'm hoping they will be there again tomorrow night so we can drive down and get some shots (it's about a mile back in by the road through this park).

Ok. .I'm jealous! Beautiful pictures Cathy. And sandhill cranes in waiting. . Wish I were there! (It was snowing today, which is a further incentive to be somewhere else.)

  2. Boy Cathy, your Fall photos are absolutely stunning-- every one of them. Enjoy it while it lasts!
    Cheers, jj

  3. Oh that's pretty ... and I bet with the sandhill cranes there it was an awesome site too! Thanks for sharing. One more thing... we have a snowy forecast for northern Wisconsin and Michigan. Are you missing it??? It's in the 30's tonight.

I have to say that you have a very good eye for pictures. You should put a book together with all your pic's, I'd buy it.

  5. Sandy, YOU can keep the snow! But Dan is already missing it (and talking about deer season back home!).

Joanna, thanks! We hope to head to the Blue Ridge Mountains tomorrow and get some shots!

Mel, I tried to get a photo of the cranes from whee I was, but they just looked like posts! Hopefully they will be back tonight! AND if we can drive part way, we'll walk the rest so we don't scare them off.

Dave, YOU are too kind!! I truly appreciate your encouragement and kind words!

  6. Gorgeous shots, Cathy! And I'd be in heaven to see those cranes!
