About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

I sometimes poke fun at our guests who can't find their way to their campsite in our circular campground.  One guest even said he would be able to find his site without our campground map because he could use his Tom Tom (a GPS).  And even at that he still couldn't get to his site.

SOOOO, let me poke some fun at Dan and myself.

We were trying to make our way to General RV in Wixom yesterday afternoon.  The manager (who usually prefers to remain anonymous, so your secret is save with all of us Steve) had given me very detailed instructions on how to get to the General RV location once we got off exit 159 from I-96.

And I took him very literally at every typed word in those directions.  It said take exit 159 right and get in the left hand lane in about 200 yards.  THAT is where I made my mistake in navigating.  I thought since he knew we were apprehensive about finding the place easily pulling our 5th wheel that he was being very specific and that the 159, go right was supposed to be "funny"...because 159 WAS A RIGHT EXIT.

He meant once we got off the exit to take another right and then get in the left hand lane in about 200 yards.  Well, DUH on my part!  Talk about feeling stupid!  No, STEVE didn't do or say anything to make me feel stupid.  Not at all...this is the first time we have met Steve although Steve and I have been emailing for years.

Our emailing started out because of the snowmobile trail reports I use to do and we've just kept in touch all this time.  So we all finally got to meet yesterday and I really showed how much I pay attention to detail!

I do sort of have another excuse though....I checked our voice messages on our cell phone.  Our neighbor had left us a message letting us know that there was a someone on our property that didn't belong there. THAT tick us both off and made it hard to concentrate on our driving.

I got in touch with the Luce Co. Sheriff's department and they made a trip out to see what was going on.  By the time the Sheriff got there, no one was there.

I told you our property was being watched...so spread the word!

Today is going to be a very busy day and I forgot that when we parked our 5th wheel at General RV yesterday that I had stuff in our fridge!  Hopefully it was cold enough overnight that the stuff is still cold!!

We have to be there at 9:30 this morning to learn all about our new RV and make the trade; get all our stuff out of the Cougar and put into the Greystone.  Then we're going someplace around here to camp for the night before we head off for the sunny south tomorrow.

I'll write more when I can!

  1. I'm happy for you and looking forward to reading about your adventures.

  2. I miss you already and I haven't even met you YET! But I swear that next summer we are going to take a trip over to stay at your campground a few days. If you're already all booked up then we will just make it a day trip. Have a safe trip ~ hugs from afar.

  3. Anonymous4:59 PM

Have a safe trip and I check daily on you to see if you have anything new. I have been following since the fire. I found you by accident. You really kept everything updated and I really appreciated it. My husband was working close to the state park that summer. Thank you for everthing. I wish I could blog like you and others I have found.

  4. The adventure officially begins then!
WOOT!! Stay safe and we will be waiting to hear updates!
