I don't know about where you are but here it is absolutely gorgeous weather!! One couldn't ask for better days for seeing the last of the fall colors in our area. The nights have been perfect too!!
There really isn't much going on right now to share with you other than our preparations to get things in order so we can leave. We're getting our caretaker "retrained" and finishing up things in the campground that we can finish. Since we still have campers here, we can't do a lot of our "end of the season" stuff.
I was on the big mower the past couple of days. It is the first time since last year and it seemed so good to be outside and mowing again! There really wasn't any grass to mow, but a lot of tall wildflowers and a LOT of leaves to chop up and let blow around. Dan's still hauling wood up and adding it to the wood pile. The neighbors across the road are keeping an eye on that end of the property. There's no way we're going to get any splitting done between now and the 17th.
We've been trying to spend time with various friends since we won't see them for a while, but even that has been hard to fit in. We've got friends coming over tonight for chili that Dan made and we may even build a campfire and spend sometime outside AFTER DARK!!! Normally, after we close the office, we have to pretend we're not here so we can have some "down time", but with only about 15 campers here, it isn't such an issue.
We filled out our absentee ballots and got those mailed in so as far as we're concerned, they can stop with all the political ads on the TV now. I've always referred to this time of year as PBS, which doesn't stand for Public Broadcasting System but for Political Back Stabbers OR, the one I prefer, is Political Bull Sh--! I'll have to try to remember to go online next month and see how it all turns out.
Hope you are having some nice weather and are taking time to enjoy it!
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
