About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

2nd version of fall rainbow

Our county was between two storm systems earlier this evening. While we heard a couple of rumbles of thunder and saw some spectacular lightening, we didn't really get anything...not until the sun came out in the west. It started raining heavily. With the sun shining brightly through the rain and the dark sky to the east, it was an opportunity for a photo I couldn't pass up!

  1. That storm came in fast just east of you ~ we had rolling thunder, then a torential downpour that only lasted a few minutes but dumped buckets then sheets of rain. I looked for the rainbow but didn't see it ~ I just knew it had to be out there somewhere - thanks for sharing it!

  2. Gorgeous photo, Cathy! you were definitely in the right place at the right time!!

  4. Cher, we heard that Raco had golf ball size hail and the Soo had smaller hail too. It looked pretty ominous in both directions and with the 60 mph winds that they said were in the storm, we're glad it DID miss us!

Retired One, Thanks! I need to get one of those umbrellas that is fastened to a hat...as long as I make sure it is wide enough to cover the camera too!
