About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Dear Ms. Clementz,

This year we had an estimated 42,000 participants in the Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk, Participation level was down compared to 2009 when we had an estimated 50,000 participants. However the event went well with good weather conditions and relatively minor traffic delays at our toll booths.

Thank you for your interest in the Mackinac Bridge.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority

  1. Interesting, Cathy! The weather always plays a part in things..and if I remember, the wind was strong too, which would inhibit some folks from walking it. ha

  2. I've been on the Mackinaw and what an incredible bridge. Wind would deter me too...but I cannot imagine 50,000 folks on it at once...scary!

  3. Speaking of the bridge, September
17th is the 3rd Annual Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing.
We have "814" tractors going across
    this year.
