About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING!

(I wrote this last night, July 27th, but didn't get it posted till this a.m.  July 28th)

M-DOT is doing road work today and there are HUGE signs telling everyone that "this lane is closed" and to wait for the flag man to tell you to proceed.  There are pylons up and down the middle of the road.  It is very apparent something is going on but apparently not to EVERYONE.

M-DOT crew just went through with their "spray guns" of tar patching up areas on the road.  No sooner had they gotten past our driveway than I heard a bunch of horn honking and some one yelling "HEY!".

I looked out the window, and there is this guy in an SUV IN THE LANE THAT IS CLOSED, headed southward.  He finally got the hint, went behind our mailbox and is parked in our ditch waiting for traffic coming from the other way to clear.  At least he isn't blocking our driveways!!  Now cars are coming FROM the north heading south ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE HE SHOULD BE but now he can't get a break in traffic to get back out on the road!  He/she could be sitting there for a while....

The ONLY thing I can think of is this person is someone who lives north of us between where they have the "use this lane" sign and the flagman, if you understand what I'm trying to convey.  He or she possibly just didn't realize that there was only one lane of traffic and he or she needed to be in the other lane...even with all the equipment, working people, pylons, etc.

We had quite a lightening disply last night and enough wind and rain that we had to close all the windows.  It was already 74 degrees at 6 a.m.  BUT there is a steady wind (I can't call it a breeze anymore!) and apparently our cold front is coming through; it is about 74 degrees and sunny...very pleasant!

We've got 16 campers and one cabin checking out today so that means Dan can mow more sites!!!  Isn't he a lucky guy!

Have a great day!

  1. Our weather is changing right now. And it feels great to have the humidity gone. There wasn't much to our storm either although it looked ominous on the radar as it approached.

The streets in the Soo are unbelievable this summer. It is difficult to navigate around town because of so much construction. I guess we'll enjoy them when completed.

Lawn mowing is in order here too. Hope Dan enjoys his mowing time.

  2. SBW, I haven't been to the Soo since my check up with Dr Woolever early last month (see him tomorrow here in Newberry). I didn't know they were working on the streets. They are so narrow to begin with!

sometimes I think some people are oblivious of what is gong on around them or they think the law doesn't pertain to them???

Came thru some small town on M28 from the Soo yesterday with a flager on each end of town. NONE at all in town! People were on the side streets and shoulders. What a mess.

  5. What kills me are the folks that when they see ten miles of "right lane closed ahead" go ahead and keep driving it until the last second, when they expect YOU to let them in because they were too ignorant to follow the directions to get into the left lane ten miles back!!!
