About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

BETSY LAKE FIRE UPDATE

I just spoke with the DNR and the fire at the Betsy Lake seems to just be burning in the ground (thank goodness).  There was 1/4" of rain last night so that helped.

The other fire, west of The Mouth of the Two Hearted, is out.

The Betsy Lake fire was way back in where ya can't get to it with anything but quads.  There was no need to use planes (I had a bit of misinformation yesterday in regards to the planes).

So far, everything looks good and no one seems overly excited about it.

  1. Cathy, Thanks for these updates. Our camp is north of you and we have a friend who's camp is 2 miles from the mouth of the Two Hearted. We can rest easy for now!

  3. Hi Cathy, I'm just getting caught up on your posts. so glad the fire situations are under control. Phew!

And the new park passport sounds like a good idea. In California we're closing parks right and left due to budget cuts.

Hope all is well and you're feeling good.
