About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

These photos are of a foot bridge that Dan and two other volunteers completed our last days in Texas. This bridge is at the Waxahachi park (another part of the reservoir...and yes, Waxahachi is easy for me to say...NOW!) There is eventually going to be a brand new bathhouse on the land at the "end" of the bridge. Dan was pretty pleased with how this turned out!!

So, we are roughing it tonight at the Super 8 in Three Rivers, Mi. We left Arcola, Il. about 7:30 a.m. in the rain and drove in the rain all day. Dan was not in his happy place by the time we hit Michigan and neither one of us felt like trying to get the camper set up, in the rain, at my sisters, so we opted to stay here. It is supposed to be nice tomorrow so getting things set up at Christy's shouldn't be an issue.

You have NO IDEA HOW GOOD THIS SHOWER FELT!!! There are a couple of reasons for that; first, we haven't had a shower in two darn days!!! Two nights ago, where we camped, they had showers, but I wouldn't have washed my dog in one of them. Last night, where we camped PURPOSELY because they had showers (yes, we could use ours in the 5th wheel but chose not to). When we arrived and asked about a site, no problem. Paid the guy, got to our site only to find out there bathhouse was 'being renovated'. Glad I had a big supply of those baby wipe things. They make a decent "camp shower".

The 2nd reason is that the water at the Highview Park where we've been the past couple of months was SO treated that it had turned the plumbing greenish...our hair needs to be vinigarized in order to get it back to normal. The water was awful, not just for drinking but for showering too. At least the motel has decent water....and it doesn't taste bad either! I had a nice, LONG, hot shower!!! I am rejuvinatead!!!

So that's about it for now!!!

Catch up with you all later!

Welcome back to Michigan.....The land of yoopers and mitten people !!!

  2. Sounds like it was a couple of good days on the road, well, except for the bad showers. Amen on them wipes.

My lil Sister works in Waxahachi...I will have to tell her to check out that fine looking bridge Dan helped with. Nice...hey Dan, I sure could use one of those nice bridges over our creek at the cabin. Hint,hint...and we only live a state from you in north central WI.
By now you are probably showering in your own shower and sleeping in your own bed again...welcome back up north to God's country.
    Bless Your Easter

  3. Hey Cathy, I'm just back from Spring Break vacation and catching up on your travels. Glad you got a decent shower :-) I'm off to read more.

    Have a fun weekend.

  4. Gary, thanks!!! Kind of glad to be back!!! Better water for sure!!!

Dar, SMALL world!!! Tell your sister that the bridge is at the Waxahachie park on the Bardwell reservoir, it isn't IN or NEAR Waxahachie. Nope, we aren't home yet; got a week in lower Mi visiting with our kids and other family and friends.

Joanna, so good to hear from you!!! Hope YOU had a good, relaxing time!

  5. Yay!! You made it back to Michigan!!
