You can tell you are in a Texas campground when;
The campers to the right of you play twanging country music all hours of the day
The campers to the left of you play Mexican music from late afternoon (possibly after siesta??)till early evening
The campers to the right of you have a good size dog that they call Brinks (I guess as in “security”??)
The campers to the left of you have two Chihuahuas called Toro and Conchito.
The campers to the right of you have a half a beef on the grill over the firepit.
The campers to the left of you have tamales on the grill and later you find roasted corn husks blowing around your campsite.
The campers to the right of you all wear HUGE belt buckles and cowboy boots
The campers to the left of you wear leather vests and leather biker caps and have even LARGER belt buckles.
The campers to the right of you call their kids back for supper by shouting “Ya’ll better git your butts on back now, ya hear? Cow’s dun.”
The campers to the left of you call their kids back by shouting something that I couldn’t understand, but reminded me a lot of what Speedy Gonzalas would say before taking off at warp speed in a cloud of dust. It is something like ANDALE! ANDALE! ARRIBBA! ARRIBBA!! Roughly translated it means Hurry up!!
But one thing I can say about the campers on either side of us, they are very nice ‘neighbors’ and are quiet!!
The weather has been very summerlike, but believe it or not, we are supposed to get down to near freezing tonight! But warming up again nicely in a couple of days!!!
Today is Dan’s ^@ birthday (YOU figure it out!!), so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUBBY!!! For as long as I have known him, I have made him a homemade pineapple upside down cake for his “big day” but that isn’t happening this year!! We think we’re going out for supper tonight at a highly recommended place called Bubba’s BBQ and Steak House. There are quite a few of them in Texas.
Have a great day!!
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
