About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

We have a book exchange "library" in our lobby which not only is good for our guests but for me too!!

In the past, a couple of my readers have told me I reminded them of Patrick McManus and asked if I had any of his books. I'd kind of forgotten about it until one of our guests was exchanging books and asked me if I'd ever read his "stuff". She was leaving two of his books; A FINE AND PLEASANT MISERY and THEY SHOOT CANOES, DON'T THEY?? So, I took them! And what I have read so far is HILL-AAARRREEEEE-US!!! I THINK I had read short articles in some hunting magazine that we subscribed to a long time ago.

So thanks to whomever it was that mentioned him to me in one of their comments!! I'll have to see if I can find MORE of his books!

Pat McManus used to (and still might) have stories in "Outdoor Life" magazine, that is where I first heard of him.

  2. Thanks for sharing. I will have to check him out. Book exchange libraries are the best. :)

  3. Gary, THAT IS the magazine! Thanks for remembering!

Ashley, I love an author with a sense of humor and he sure has it!!

  4. I'm not familiar with Patrick McManus. I'll have to look for him next time I'm at Borders.

Some of his stuff is so funny, to me, that I laugh so hard I cry. Haven't read anything bad by him yet!

  6. Joanna, From reading your posts in your blog and "seeing" your sense of humor, I think you'd enjoy his style! Most of it pertains to the great outdoors but it is a HOOT!

Gary, and can't you just picture some of this stuff happening??? I've gotta take time to see if there are more books!
