About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

WHAT IS HE LOOKING AT??

HUMMER WATCHING OVERHEAD
This hummer caught my eye and I wondered what he was looking at...

GOLDFINCH EATING SUNFLOWER SEED

This goldfinch was over head. I think the male hummer was even trying to be territorial with the finch! There is a sunflower seed in the finch's beak....not a broken "lip"!!

  4. Retired One...HA! Bird Whisperer!! I had been trying very hard to get a shot of the hummers sitting in the lilac bush while it was raining; they were "showering" and having a ball. BUT, the screen in the kitchen window was a problem, so Dan took it out....by then it had stopped raining but the hummers still enjoy this bush because it isn't too far from one of the feeders.

Hardly any lilacs this year; wonder what it'll be like on the Island for the lilac festival week??

Great minds think alike! We have removed screens also for the purpose of photography! Your bird pictures are beautiful. I wasn't into photography that much when I was in the U.P. and you are showing me all I missed!

  7. We are getting a lot of buds on our lilac trees...but they are taking their sweet time blooming (because of this damn cold, I am sure!!)
It is only suppposed to be in the 50's here until Wed. when we are supposed to only be in the 60's. Lord, I am sick of this!!
I will need to go and visit my daughter again in Florida if this keeps up. We haven't even put our boats in the water yet or been out on the lake...too cold to enjoy them. I love to fish, so this is making me mad!!

  8. Retired One...I think this spring I have had two windows open at the same time (out of 17) and have had a "summer blouse" on ONCE!
