About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

FLUTTER-BY

Did you know that the butterfly really use to be called a 'flutter-by'??

I really haven't been in a writing state of mind, especially since I'd only be able to use one hand to type. The other hand is busy itching mosquito bites on the nape of my neck!

I mowed all day yesterday but it looks like rain today so I won't have to mow today if it rains. YES!!!! So maybe I'll put some anti itch stuff on my neck, put my thinking cap on, and try to be creative (as long as I only have one program open at a time!!).

  1. I'm suffering from the same malady on my neck. The mosquitoes chased us in from a bonfire last night. They seemed especially aggressive. Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

  2. I've been avoiding mosquitos like the plague! I hear one and immediately start itching!
Love your "flutter-by" shots! I need to look for some as well.

  4. SBW, those must have been some BA mosquitoes to chase you away from a bonfire!

DVM's wife, the only butterflies that we have seen are these. We usually have a couple of different kinds (monarch AND swallowtails), but so far, this is it.

ASHLEY, we've been spoiled the past 5 years with it being so dry...no mosquitoes! Part of our cancellation policy is that we do not give refunds for the discomfort of Mother Nature and that includes mosquitoes and blackfies!

  6. Shellmo, thanks! The deer flies have been bad the past 3 days; they swarm you but don't light (except on the bill of my cap!).
