About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

PHOTOS OF WOLF SPIDER

Hell, no I didn't take these! No way!!! There is not a big enough lens for me to take a photo of a spider!
A question/comment in previous post; No these are not just found in the U.P. The one that bit me was when we lived 380 miles south of here near Colon, Mi. There are a variety of wolf spiders and THIS is not like the one that we have in Michigan....at least not the ones I have seen. Our's are hairy sons of guns. And get quite large!!
One year when I was mowing the yard (on the rider) I thought I was avoiding running over a toad...turned out it was one of these things! THAT is big.
Another time, there was a HUGE one in the driveway that I was going "to save" to show Dan because it was so big. I went out armed with a shovel and a coffee can with a lid. I proceeded to try to scoop it up on the shovel and it started jumping up the shovel towards me! Didn't take long to throw that thing down. So I managed to get nerve enough to put the coffee can over it and hoped it didn't walk off with it. It was still there when Dan got home. BRRRRRRR>>

  1. OMG. I hope I NEVER see one up close and personal.

Our weather has been gorgeous! How about yours? We are supposed to get up to 76 today. YIPPEE!
My tulips are almost ready to bloom.
I can hardly move because I have been busy cleaning up the garden and putting mulch down. But it looks so clean and pretty when they are done and the flowers finally bloom!

  2. Okay - no one told me we had this scary wolf spider in Michigan! I hate spiders! I would be running for miles if I saw this thing!

  3. Retired One..it has been very nice. With painting the mens' room this a.m. and the humidity, it will dry slowly (oil base ).

  4. Shellmo, have you ever seen the big, yellow garden spider? At least that is what my Dad called them. They are pretty scary looking too!
