About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day! It got up to 70 by afternoon. Late afternoon the sky started looking like a big bruise; it started thundering and pretty soon we had another soaking rain. The grass is green, leaves are coming out on the trees, AND THERE ARE TWO MALE HUMMERS NOW!!! Hopefully they get someone(s) to court! They will be pretty frustrated if they don't!

AND, we only have 4 more boards to replace on picnic tables but we are out of boards! We ended up replacing more boards on some tables than expected. Hopefully Dan and I can start working on the mowers today because it won't be long and we'll have to use them.

This coming Wednesday, I venture over to Manistique to see a podiatrist. His office is in Marquette, but he has office hours every couple of weeks in Manistique (which is a bit closer for me). I don't think this big toe thing is that fungus...I think I have a nail problem. At least I HOPE that is it (well, I THINK I hope that is it...). My daughter had an injury to her big toe several months ago and ended up having the toenail removed but a new one had already started growing in under that one before the removal. I haven't had an injury to my toe, but I was wearing some shoes last fall/winter that made the end of that toe feel terribly bruised.

The upcoming weather pattern looks stable as far as temps go, so Dan and I plan on bleaching the water lines to the campsites on Sunday. Hopefully the temps remain above freezing from here on out!

And I may "bite the bullet" and put my ground birdbath/fountain out earlier than normal this year. I've had one blue bird that has been coming to the plastic look like terra cotta bowl (sits outside the dining room window) and taking a bath at night. The finches and siskins sit on the sidelines watching till he gets done splashing around. I haven't been able to get a shot of it or you would have seen it too! I'm usually cooking supper when this occurs. I need to be standing closer to that window before he comes in and be ready with the camera.

Hope you all are having a great week! Enjoy this weather AND the rain (if you are getting any). It'll make the mushrooms pop up!

  1. You do sound very busy for the upcoming camping season. How are things looking for Memorial Day weekend? My husband and son are heading up that way that weekend to do some fishing and guy stuff. I may have to have him stop by and meet you and your husband.
    Enjoy the warm temps today!

  2. Reservations are running about the same as last year which doesn't mean much. Memorial Day isn't a busy time up here. The most exciting thing about this Memorial Day weekend is that my daughter plans on coming up! It is hard being away from your kids, even if they are all grown up!

    Please DO stop by!

  3. Be careful with the water and bird bath...it is supposed to be really cold here Saturday and Sat.night...they even said the S word might happen! Oh Lord, that will put an end to me!!!!
Sunday is supposed to be back up in the 60's though.

  4. Retired One...SNOW??? That isn't in our forecast but anything is possible!!

I didn't put the "waterfall" in the bird bath yet. I have a concern about the little pump freezing and it is a B to clean!
