About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Pretty much everything is ready to open the park. The few finishing touches can be done anytime. We haven't put up the playground equipment yet and that isn't a big rush to do so.

Now I can concentrate on spring cleaning the cabins and the Little Lodge. Last night was curtain washing and touch up ironing night. Yesterday afternoon was window washing on the inside (need Dan's help for the outside).

We even managed to take a walk on our nature trail last night and it is in pretty good shape (no logs across the paths). AND THE SNOW IS FINALLY GONE IN THE WOODS!!! AND THERE WERE NO BUGS TO BOTHER US!! But that means it is dry conditions and we really could use a good soaking rain. In the winter we do snow dances, now we need a rain dance. Fire danger is getting up there and all of us in the area have become a bit gun shy since the Sleeper Lake Fire a couple summers ago.

Dan found a mushroom on our walk (we both found several beefsteaks). How that man managed to spot it is beyond me. He can't read the warning labels on bottles of meds, but he can see a mushroom that wasn't even as big as the first joint of my pinky.

Back to work!!

  1. Glad to hear all of your snow is finally gone. Whew, getting ready to open does sound like quite the chore. Hopefully you will have campers in no time.

  2. You must have made a ton of headway over the last few days...good for you.
Yesterday, we played hooky and went out in da woods too. I took lots of photos (which of course will eventually make their way to my blog over the next few weeks!) of waterfalls, birds, butterflies, etc.
The weather was gorgeous (almost 70) and no bugs. Decided we HAD to go out before the bugs get too bad.
I hope you have a wonderfully successful camping year at your campground!!
