My best friend lives downstate; the town where I was born, Colon.
Anyway, we email constantly and I realized the past couple of weeks I haven’t been hearing from her as often. So I asked her if everything was OK. She replied “It’s that time of year when I am working out in flower beds. Preparing them for new plants”. OK…well, it is kind of hard for ME to remember that even though we are still snow covered, OTHERS in Michigan might actually be experiencing spring like weather. THERE IS STILL 3’ OF SNOW IN THE WOODS! That 6-8” we received a couple nights ago didn’t help matters any! IT WAS SNOWING AGAIN LAST NIGHT!
Well the snowmobile trails officially closed for the season at midnight last night. The TASA election is now 13 days away. I have started boxing up stuff to turn in that night at the meeting. I gotta remember to turn in my key too. I’d rather that I remember it instead of someone having to remind me.
Here is some news that I didn’t know anything about. I’m not going to mention the Newberry motel and you will probably understand why. But I can only assume that this is NOT the ONLY motel in Michigan that is getting paid for this. This “early out” program for prisoners in Michigan…did you know that WE ARE NOW PAYING FOR SOME OF THEM TO BE PUT UP IN MOTELS?? I realize that we were paying for them to be in prison but it pretty much irritates me when I find out that some are being “released” to stay in motels…MOTELS WITH A POOL NO LESS! I feel a search coming on….
I hadn’t mentioned anything about our trip to the VA last Friday because Dan and I don’t know what to think. We had heard very good things from another Veteran who has also seen this VA orthopedist so maybe our “hopes” were too high. We came away not any better off or with any more info than we had before the trip. The Dr did agree that possibly “something slipped” in Dan’s artificial knee (which is only 2 years old but has been bothering him for about a year) but there really wasn’t anything that could be done short of a “re-do”. I had already researched that online and didn’t like the results…and this orthopedist pretty much said the same thing. So he asked Dan if he wanted to be referred to the VA in Milwaukee. Dan said he did. It can take up to 2 months before he can even get an appointment and there is no guarantee anything can be done. If it takes that long, Dan will have to make the trip alone because we will be open for business by then. We both HOPE that he can get in much sooner than that.
I managed to get a very restful night in; no bad dreams (If you care to, you can read the dream interpretations that The Retired One posted on the comments section of DREAM WEAVER). BUT I fell asleep before Dancing with the Stars was even half over! I found out that Beauty and the Geek were voted off last night…which I think we all kind of figured would happen.
With the dampish weather, my hives are really acting up again. I had them all over my wrists, palms and on my feet yesterday. It was so very windy again that by the time I walked from the house to the truck I had hives on my face and neck…SUMMER PLEASE HURRY!!!
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
