About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

These are photos OF photos. I wanted to try out my macro setting on my camera and since there are no flowers or even buds to get up close with and no intricate dewey spider webs yet, this was my best test. Considering that I can see my camera reflection in each one, it isn't too bad! I didn't move the framed photos to a different location to shoot, I just shot them where they "live".

I want to explain the last photo that appears in the collage photo...the one with Chewy and a hanky on her head. I sure miss my little sweetie.

Chewy was either hot or cold....no happy medium. In that shot, we happened to be setting up camp someplace in Louisianna and it was hotter than a biscuit. I was very concerned about Chewy over heating so I took one of Dan's big hankies, wet it down with cool water and put it over her head. She was sitting in the back of the van and didn't want to come out. Maybe she felt people would point and laugh at her, but I thought she was cute. But then, I was her Mommy.

I think I remember when you got this cute little doggie! There are some pets that we never forget.
My Penny that is buried in Newberry was a precious part of our family and I still have pictures of her hanging. Now Scooby-Doo is getting up in years and having illness. "Mommy's" worried! sf

  2. Sandy, if it hadn't been for you, Chewy and I wouldn't have met. I HAD forgotten about that till you posted your comment.

We had her for over 10 years. She had so many problems when we adopted her and we helped her get over a few of them. We put her down Jan 12, 2008. May 21, 2008 we had Nick put down too. They are buried out here side by side and across from them are Dutch and Sheba. Dan is at a point where he could be ready for another pet, but I can't do it yet. Don't know if I'll eve be able to. I can't even write this without tearing up.

Hopefully Scooby will be with ya a good long while yet.
