About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

These photos were taken at Covered Bridge Park which is in St. Joseph County in lower Michigan. The lighting was very difficult to get a good shot and as you can see he was hiding in the woodsy parts of the river area. At times I couldn't see him through the view finder due to him blending in.

  1. Beautiful shots Cathy! I love seeing herons fishing in the shallow water!

  2. OOOOOOooo! You found one for me!
    I LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
    Thanks so much!!

  3. Shellmo and Retired One, thanks to both of ya. I wish I could find an eye cup for my digital camera. My eyeglasses (left eye) gets so blurry without that cup...and lets in a lot of light too so it makes it hard to see. I shade my left eye a lot trying to see better. I have a friend looking on Ebay for one for me for a Fuji digital as Fuji told me they don't make them any more.

If either one of you have a suggestion, please let me know!

  4. I have trouble squinting one eye...how do those eye cups work? Do you have to have eyeglasses to wear one? Let me know?

  5. Retired One, yes, I have to wear glasses and had an eye cup on my 35 mm. They are very helpful to people who wear glasses. It doesn't necessarily prevent squinting but makes it much easier for a person with glasses to see through the view finder and it does help keep light out from the side.

Sure wish I could find one.
