About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

I ventured outside twice to try to get some shots of the frost. I was dressed from head to toe and even had my fleece lined face mask on (but I still managed to get "stuff" in my throat...I can feel it). You know I don't get political on ya and don't force my love of God and nature on anyone, but I don't know how a person could look at this glorious morning and not know there was someone or something greater than all of us.

I made two different trips outside about 20 minutes apart so some of the photos look black and white while some show a little more sun on the branches (at least that is how they look on Vista!)

I wish I could have spent more time outside and walked across the snow into the field...close to a tree to get a shot of the sun shining on a branch of frost instead of the whole tree.

  1. They are as gorgeous as I thought they would be!
Thanks for bundling up and getting them!
Maybe I am getting up too late to catch horefrost..what time did you take these at? I see the sun is up, so was it around 7am or 7:30am?
I would love to catch some of my own and I know it is the right time of year to do it!!

  2. Retired One...Thanks! I couldn't help myself! I had to go out and I do have Benadryl on hand should my throat close up!

I think that # 1 and 2 were taken about 7:30 a.m. then the others about 20 minutes later.

It didn't take long for the trees to "melt" once that sun was up high enough!

  3. Retired One, I should mention that the first shot was taken facing kind of north east, the 2nd was kind of south east (more east than south) the remaining two were more east than north.

    Hi Caathy -

    Your pictures are truly gorgeous.

Hope all is as good as can be expected.

Take care and be good to yourselves.

  5. Anonymous, Thanks! It was such a beautiful sight.

The way you wrote your comment, it sounds as if we know each other...do we?

  6. Wow, you captured some great ones! I love, love that second picture. Beautiful.
We had that same type of frost the other morning down here as well.
Congrats on your two new awards!

  7. DVM's Wife, To quote Elvis, "Thank you, thank you very much!"

I didn't even know there WERE awards for blogs until I found time to start visiting other sites!

Gotta get your hubby loaded up, grab the snowshoes and head north! Next week you'll need mudders!

Yes Cathy, you and I chatted at times - it's me, the Gaylord G'ma!

Good to play catch-up by seeing your wonderful photography. Just jotted to ex-neighbor who now lives in N.Carolina to take a look-see at your absolutely amazing phots. You ARE good!

    Take care.

  9. Gaylor G'ma...I THOUGHT that might have been you but wasn't sure. Been thinking about ya and hoping all was well in your corner of the world!

Thanks for the very kind compliments! N. Carolina, huh? We're counting the days till we can head there!!
