Are "yawl gittin' tarred" of my vacation stories? Hey, we're almost done...just a few more to go!
But in between, just thought I'd catch up with what you've all been up to and how the weather has been in your area, etc.
It was 71 here yesterday. The weather has been gorgeous since we got home late Sunday afternoon. Dan and I have trimmed most of the trees in our yard, got that brush picked up and hauled off, tied up some picnic tables in the campground that don't want to stay "up right" and then yesterday we treated the campground sewer line that runs from the bathhouse, dumpstation and all the way to the lift station. There is a powerful, granular chemical that you add to the line, followed by gallons of water. We do this in 3 different clean out areas along the line. It takes care of roots that grow INTO the line and can cause serious clogs. It isn't a pleasant job for either of us, but it is done.
Today is a rainy day and by tomorrow we are supposed to see SNOW!!! OH! And we had a female cardinal at one of the feeders a couple days ago! They are NOT usually found here.
Do you remember I told you about our friends/neighbors who lost their dog? HE FOUND HIS WAY HOME OCTOBER 19TH! He was skinny and the pads on his feet were pretty sore, but he is home.
And do you remember I copied an ad from the Newberry News from the man who strongly opposed voting for millage for animal control? It WAS voted down by about 200 votes! I have been very surprised to learn that Billie's (one of the stores on "main street in downtown Newberry" had enlarged this ad and had it posted on their store front windows. Others may have done the same, but this is one that I know about. I don't know what your feelings are on animal control, but you know how I feel about it. I don't know what the county will do now. Does this mean if a person has a dog/cat problem that we are just supposed to shoot?? I guess time will tell where this goes...
Well, I appreciate that you are either reading or skimming over the vacation stories. As I said, a lot of stuff is included in there so my Mom can see where we were and what we did, etc. My sister is printing off the stories and giving them to Mom when she sees her.
So, yes, there will be a few more vacation stories and then it will be BAU!
Catch ya later!
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
