About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Something I want to make clear....

Remember that campground I told you about that the bathhouse was so dirty and the sites were so uneven that we didn't stay? THAT park was in Tennessee. Part of BSF resides in both Kentucky AND Tennessee. The Bandy Creek Campground that we stayed in IS in Tennessee but this is a NATIONAL park.

All of the Kentucky STATE parks that we have stayed in, this year and in years past, have not disappointed us as far as cleanliness and the size of the campsite. Most of the sites are HUGE and most ARE level. The bathhouses are CLEAN and modern. And unlike Michigan State Parks, there is NO ENTRANCE FEE. You pay to camp; no extra fees for driving in. In Michigan out of staters pay $8.00 extra ON TOP of the camp fee per vehicle. So if a motor home is towing a car, they are paying $16.00 on top of the camp site fee. AND in Kentucky State Parks, AARP members AND military get a 10% discount. This is also for any of the State Park entrance fees to any of the additional attractions, like Fort Boonesborough.

One of these days I am going to take the time and look into how the State of Kentucky manages to have such wonderful state parks and not charge outrageous fees (compared to Michigan).

There will be the continuing saga of our vacation coming up soon!
