About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Dan and I rarely have an opportunity to eat at a KFC and when we do, we try to find one that has the buffet. And maybe they don't even do that anymore.

BUT, I have to tell you about a special meal that Dan and I had the other night in our home. We have guests in our one of our cabins, Fred and Laura Fritz, who are staying for better than a week. They always come up and camp for 8 days in the summer but this fall they decided to come back and enjoy the beauty of the fall in our area.

Laura has brought us cookies before and when Nick and Chewy were still alive, she'd bring them treats. The other night she came into the lobby carrying a plate with another plate on top of it. It was some chicken that Fred had fixed on the grill. I made Dan come in so we could eat it while it was still hot. Our first bite, we each looked at one another and said "THIS is better than the Colonel's!"

We raved to them about how much we enjoyed the chicken and kidded Fred about his secret 11 herbs and spices and wondered if it WAS a secret or if he'd share it with us...which he did. But I'm not telling ya. I wasn't sworn to secrecy but I do try to respect someones recipes!

Thanks Fred and Laura!
