September 3rd, 2008 will be our 16th year of owning Clementz’s Northcountry Campground & Cabins. It is hard to believe it has been THAT long! And what a trip it has been!
With that said, Dan and I are doing something this fall that we have never done in the 16 years we’ve been open! WE ARE CLOSING AND TAKING A SHORT VACATION! Normally our vacations are taken at the end of snowmobile season so when we go any place we have to head WAY south or south west.
We have decided since there isn’t that much business for us between the time OUR fall colors are over and before deer season opens we are taking some time to call our own. So with that in mind, here are our new dates of operation (our websites will be updated soon to reflect the changes);
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW OPERATING DATES;
LODGING; OPEN MAY 12TH TO OCTOBER 15TH . WE WILL REOPEN THE LODGING NOVEMBER 10th TO THE END OF SNOWMOBILE SEASON. We are taking a short break from October 15th to early November. There is no lodging from the end of snowmobile season to May 12th.
CAMPING; OPEN MAY 12TH TO OCTOBER 15TH, WE WILL REOPEN THE CAMPGROUND (with limited hook ups) FROM NOVEMBER 10TH TO NOVEMBER 30TH. We are taking a short break from October 15th to early November. There is no camping from November 30th to May 12th LODGING IS OPEN FOR SNOWMOBILING.
I know it is kind of confusing, but I couldn’t think of any way better to word our new schedule. Keep this schedule in mind if you are making plans to come stay with us.
Our plan is when the last person checks out on October 18th, we will close the gates behind that person and we are leaving for Kentucky! There are two places we know for sure we are going to head for. Big South Fork National Recreation Area is a place that we have camped at 2 or 3 times but have never taken the time to explore it. There is an old train ride that takes you to an old “ghost mining camp”. I’m sure it will be beautiful in the gorge in the fall. Then from there we are headed to Land Between the Lakes which is another back to nature type area in Kentucky. We may mosey on over to Elkmont, Tn. This is a Tennessee State Park that we love to camp at there, right on a river and close to the Smokey Mountains. It will depend on the weather. The campground has no hook ups and if it is TOO cold we won’t be able to stay there or I will be a hunk of hives.
So, we are anxiously counting the days till we can take this vacation. We haven’t had a vacation since 2004. In spring 2005 I had major shoulder surgery, then the next two springs Dan had knee replacement surgery. This spring we did take a trip downstate to see our kids and family but that wasn’t really a vacation.
As I am writing this, we have 55 days to go!
