Today is almost as exciting for me as going on a trek across the burning sands of Death Valley….without water…without a hat. Maybe even minus shoes and socks.
You may recall that about 3 years ago, Dan and I added on to our home which made our bedroom quite a bit larger (as well as giving us a couple more rooms and more room in my office). We have been without carpet in our bedroom ever since that addition and TODAY IS THE DAY WE GET CARPETING!!!!!
I got all the furniture out of the bedroom yesterday except the bed, which will be coming out of there shortly. Dan has to go pick up the padding and carpet and then the fun really begins. It is a good thing that I have coffee this morning. I do only drink it in the morning and when it is gone, I don’t make more but there is always the first time. Actually maybe a glass of wine would be better by afternoon.
When Dan was a “youngster” he had a job laying carpet but that was before two knee replacements and back issues. And then there is me with the screws in my shoulder. And of course, Nick, the Husky, will have to try to help out. It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't some "twists and turns" and corners to deal with. If it was a straight shot of 12' x 19' that would be a piece of cake! Between the three of us it ought to prove to be quite a day. I will be thrilled if we are still speaking to each other by 1 p.m. I will be DOUBLY thrilled if we can get the bed back in there by bed time. I can deal with coming to the living room for my socks and stuff (where my dresser currently is) and Dan wouldn’t care if I put all his clothing in a duffle bag. HE doesn’t need a dresser (his thoughts, not mine).
So, if you know any chants or prayers for such an occasion, please say them for us. I wouldn't even be adverse to just chanting James Brown's GET UP OFFA THAT THING. I just have a feeling once we get DOWN we won't eaily get UP. And do not call today unless it is an emergency because I doubt I will be able to hear the phone over the grunting and cussing anyway.
WISH US LUCK!!

- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
