About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

I have a heart wrenching AND heart warming story that I want to share with you. I want to do this with paramount respect for the family of the deceased person.

Sometimes good things CAN come out of something bad.

You may recall there was a tragic snowmobile accident on #9 south snowmobile trail, just a bit past M-28. A couple weeks ago, a life was lost and other lives were forever changed.

As a result of this tragedy, the widow of the man who lost his life is donating the snowmobile to the Luce County EMS to be used as a rescue sled. Hopefully this sled may now SAVE a life. All she is asking in return is for the cost of towing and storage cost of the sled.

A fund has been established to help cover the cost of repairs to the sled so it can be utilized as a rescue sled by the Luce Co EMS. As of this morning $190.00 has been raised. There has also been talk of establishing a college fund for the kids. THIS whole idea came about from other sledders reading about the donation of the sled to the EMS.

If you would like to donate, there are a couple of ways to do so and that is explained at the following website;

The sled needs a new windshield, hood and some other minor items. But please click on the link; there are some very wonderful fellow snowmobilers out there more than willing to help. Just read what they have to say, even if you can’t donate.
