Sorry I haven’t updated in a while, but I’ve been busy with other things. Seems like at points in our lives there is a LOT going on then you have a lull for a while. I’m waiting for the lull.
So what are you going to do with all that money that Bush is sending back to us??? I’m thinking we’ll fill up our fuel oil tank for next winter! Suppose that will help stimulate the economy??? I’m not quite sure how it IS supposed to stimulate the economy because of the cost of everything else. For us, bills come before pleasure.
It use to be, way back before gas got outta sight and the Michigan economy was in the toilet, that this time of year Dan and I would be planning our spring vacation for when we close for the season. For the past 3 years, we had planned our operations; my shoulder 3 springs ago, Dan’s first knee 2 springs ago and his other knee last spring. 4 years ago was our last vacation. That was when we headed for Utah and toured the Canyonlands, the Grand Escalante. (Utah is a well kept secret. We were so much more impressed with all that we saw in Utah than we ever have been with the Grand Canyon. That probably sounds unpatriotic so sorry)
We HOPE to go downstate and visit our family and friends about mid April. It will be very strange traveling without our little Chewy. And depending on how the rest of this business season goes, we may possibly drive the extra 8 hours and go to Gettysburg Military Park. We’ve both gotten interested in visiting the Civil War battlefields and while we were in Missouri 5 years ago, spent quite a bit of time finding the various battlefields in that state as well as following the Natchez Trace Parkway for a long while.
We really miss traveling and sorry, but we don’t consider a trip downstate to visit family and friends a vacation. I know that we would enjoy being full time Rv’ers, even with the price of fuel! And if and when we get to that point in our lives, I want to find someplace we can “light at” for a while that we can get fresh peaches, fresh tomatoes, fresh corn on the cob. Doesn’t that sound WONDERFUL???? Ya just don’t get those choices in our neck of the woods. The last time I bought a “fresh” peach out of the grocery story (in our area) was about 6 years ago…it was horrible. I haven’t purchased oranges in FOREVER because the ones I have bought were all pulp and rind. Tomatoes remind me of wood pulp. THAT doesn’t taste good no matter what ya put it on or in! The only thing you CAN grow successfully in “da U.P” is older, colder and fatter!
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
