About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

A NEW CHAMPION CROWNED AT THE REINDEER GAMES!

The reindeer games are now over -- and a new overall reindeer champion has been named. And this year it is a really big surprise winner.

Much to the chagrin of all the fast and big young bucks this year’s overall champion reindeer is Thelma -- a small, spry doe who is barely a year old.

“It is very unusual for a reindeer so young to perform so well,” Elf Victor explained. “I thought she’d be something special next year but she surprised even me. She has a lot of poise for such a youngster!”

Thelma took second place in two categories early in the competition -- long distance flight and high jumping. “The girls usually do best on the long distant flights, so that may not have been much of a surprise. While the boys are more powerful the girls can stay up longer. But her performance in the high jump was inspiring!” said Elf Fiona, Thelma’s trainer. “We worked for three months with her. We’re very proud of her!”

Santa got the games results this morning and he stopped by Santa’s Stables to congratulate all the reindeer for their work in the reindeer games. Speaking in seven different languages at different times, Santa welcomed all the reindeer who participated in the games to help on Christmas Eve -- drawing gasps and big cheers from everyone involved.

He went up to Thelma and whispered something special in her ear. We don’t know what he said but she sure did have a big smile on her face. Tradition has it that the champion of the reindeer games each year gets a special assignment from Santa on Christmas Eve. We can’t wait to find out what Thelma will be doing!
