About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

(For those of you still getting use to me, I like to use song titles for my story titles sometimes...this is a Beatles tune).

I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD HAPPEN! I really didn't think the Michigan government would shut down! Some say it will only last a week, others are dug in for the idea of a month of it! This is ALL Political BS (that is PBS for short, and you can take it as Political Back Stabbing or just old BS!). I tend to not get political with my blogging but it is hard to hold your head up and be proud of being from Michigan right now!

I can see one good thing that will come from one aspect of this shut down...with the State Parks closed, the private campgrounds, especially in the U.P, still might be able to make some $$ before closing for the season. We picked up an additional 30 campers yesterday who were displaced by this shut down...and believe me, they are NOT happy about things! They were very polite to us but they don't have much nice to say about Michigan in general! They were happy to find a place to at least be able to continue their vacation. But how would you like it if you were in their shoes??? Believe me, we are thrilled to have the business, but it is sad to get it at this cost to the State's "reputation"!

Colors are REALLY coming on. I had hoped to get some shots yesterday but I was pretty busy in the office and when I had time, the sun was not out and it looked pretty gloomy. Maybe I can get some pix today.

JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO CANCEL YOUR CAMPING PLANS! WE ARE OPEN AND WE DO HAVE SITES!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!!! Visit our website at http://www.northcountrycampground.com/.
