I knew it wouldn't be long and someone would come up with a T-shirt for the fire.
Luce County Community Resources Rec Center is selling T-shirts. The profits will be used for the Youth Center. The shirts come in grey, blue and black. Sizes range from size M-3X. For more info call 906-293-3729.
There are two choices. (Wish I had a photo so I could show you). One shows the outline of a map of the whole U.P. with a Blackhawk and Bambi bucket "hovering" over the area of where the fire was. Then below the outline of the U.P. it says "Newberry, Michigan 2007" Across the map it says Sleeper Lake Fire. This is a drawing, not photos.
The other one is more of a caricature or possibly could be considered a cartoon drawing of a DNR pumper truck headed down a two track into the woods. There is a little bull dozer off to the side of some pine trees and a moose calmly laying back soaking his feet in a pond. There is one of the Minnesota tankers flying over head. The smoke from the fire spells out Sleeper Lake.
They will take mail orders but you will have to pay extra for shipping. The cost per shirt is $17 regardless of size.
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
