About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

This was a good story, one of the best we've read in the papers yet. We just got back from a 4 day stayin the Newberry area and hopefully this info will help. As cathy has been telling you there is no reason to change your plans. We went every place that we wanted to and some besides. The UP is NOT closed. Everything is very much open. GO!! ENJOY!!!

We live outside of Paradise, Michigan and are still amazed at all the bad information out htere about what you can and can't get to.! Cathy has been very honest with her reports! Tehre is NO reason to cancel plans!! EVerything is open!! The blueberry festival in Paradise is still on!!! The DEQ is monitoring air quality and have found no problems!! Come up and enjoy our corner of God's country!

    Hiya,

This story was in the Detroit Free Press, not the Detroit News. Two very different papers with very different perspectives on the news.

Felt important that this be known.

Thanks for your continued timely and great reports on the fire and the progress being made.

  4. Kathe, thank YOU for bringing that to my attention! I made the correction and hope I haven't offended anyone with my error.

    Thanks!
