About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

SLEEPER LAKE FIRE, NEWBERRY

I haven't received an updated map yet, but have some fairly good news. The hope is to get M-123 open today. That should be encouraging news for those of you who own property up north of us.

I was in the car when the DNR meeting was being aired this a.m. so I am trying to remember some of the important parts. REALLY important is that there still has been no structural damage! No injuries!!! One MINOR vehical accident and they were chuckling about that so there must be a story to go with it. One BIG news item is they are bringing in a Black Hawk chopper and I think the gallon size of the bucket is 2000 gallons. And, as far as I know, we still have use of the "bomber planes" for one more day...unless they get called some place else. There is equipment/DNR help coming from Wisconsin and downstate. As I am writing this, the wind is not bad and the smell is not bad either. Still no rain, and no humidity which we could use both.

Stay tuned...

(I got my side bar problem fixed!!
