About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

SLEEPER FIRE UPDATE, 9:09 A.M. 8/11/07

There isn't a whole lot new to report which is VERY good news!!!!

The size of the fire is now at 18,574 acres and the ONLY reason for the increase is due to the burn out that was accomplished last night!!! It was a very successful operation!!!

The choppers will continue to drop water on to the hot spots, etc today.

The only structure that has been damaged is the one reported to you earlier.

The onsite meteorologist predicts some rain over night.

THINGS ARE REALLY LOOKING GOOD! CR 407 still remains closed from Halfway Lake to Pine Stump. Lots of heavy equipment up and down the road, etc.

Hope to see another update from you soon. BTW- if you want to check out my blog it is: http://greymatterchatter.blogspot.com/

  3. unohoo,
We didn't get any rain and it doesn't look like there will be any any time soon. Very windy today but the choppers aren't flying over as often as they have in days past. They are using the Chinook which can carry 2000 gallons of water.
