About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

I never did learn how to take short hand, so this really will be brief. Hopefully I will have a more detailed report later for you.

The hard work the fighters put in this weekend paid off in a big way yesterday, even with the high winds. Some hot spots flared up but were immediately taken care of. The big concern is about 10 acres of tag elders (kind of scrubby little trees that get all tangled up) that are smoldering and falling down out in the middle of the marsh.

The fire over by Engadine is being called the Mile Alley fire. I don't have a lot of info on it except to say that the high winds drove it quickly through the cedar stand and they were able to stop it at the other side. There are a couple of dozers on site and about 12-20 fire personnel.

Things are looking good. More later
