About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Here is a quick synopsis of the early DNR meeting as of 8/10/07

Substantial progress has been made and they ARE excited!!

There is good weather for today

Today will start the "change out" for some of the fighting crew. They try to relieve people who have been working for 7 days. They try to do one or two at a time, providing replacements are available.

The NE and SE line has NOT MOVED IN TWO DAYS!!!!!

There is another Chinoke chopper coming in today for more water drops (as I understand it).

In 1976 the Seney fire burned 78,000 acres.

The DNR will be cutting back to 3 updates per day unless something drastic changes, so this is good news too!!!

And this has nothing to do with the fire, but just a bit of news for you.

Yesteday a woman jumped to her death from the south tower of the Mackinac Bridge. Authorities had tried to talk her "down" but she jumped the 175'. They tried to revive her but the effort was unsuccessful. This is the 2nd jumper this year. In Febrary a man jumped and his body has never been recovered.
