About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

Chinok CH-47 heavy lift helicopter HAS ARRIVED FOR NEWBERRY FIRE

These photos were taken over our house. M-123 is now open as long as you drive with your lights on and proceed slowly. I do have a new map to upload and I hope to get to it soon.

Your work on the fire updates is great work. Just for clarification purposes, the helicopter you show pictured is a CH-47 "Chinook" not a "Blackhawk". Once again great job, keep it up.

That's not a Blackhawk, That's a Chinok CH-47 heavy lift helicopter. 'Bout twice the lift of a Blackhawk.

  3. My hubby, Dan, a Viet Vet, corrected me on that a couple of times AFTER I had posted the photo and verbiage and until now I had forgotten to correct it so thank you both for the reminder. The radio announcement from the DNR kept referring to the Black Hawk coming in so I just figured this was it but even I wondered about the size of it!

I'm so glad to have found your blog. My heart lives up in the forests NW of Newberry, having camped there for over 30 years. I've been watching the fire's progress closely and am grateful for your blog.

I've been praying for rain all night and will continue to do so.
