The updates, as you've noticed, are coming less frequently and not as much to report, so that is good news!
With that in mind, shortly, I'm going to be "returning" to more of my "regular format", or in other words, the reason for which I started Yooper Yarns. But for now, read on;
The Bell 430 helicopter with the infrared technology that was used to locate hot spots is actually owned and operated by the Michigan State Police. There has been no mention of how many hot spots that "showed up".
The fire fighting operation is now gearing more towards hand crews instead of heavy equipment because the hand crews can get in where the equipment cannot. There is stil a lot of organic fuels 'out there'.
The DNR consider the fire still at 50% containment and the acreage burned is holding at 18,680 acres.
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
