About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

ANOTHER SNOWMOBILE DEATH

The Iron County Sheriff says alcohol and speed are believed to have been factors in the death of a 19-year-old man in a snowmobile accident early yesterday.

Sheriff Robert Bruneau says Timothy Martens of Deloit, Iowa, was killed on a trail about seven miles east of Hurley when he crashed into a tree.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it's the seventh snowmobile fatality of the season in the state.

The agency says that compares to ten at the same time a year ago, 18 two years ago and the five year average of twelve. The DNR's Director of Recreation Enforcement, Bill Engfer, says the agency is very happy there's a decrease, but he noted there wasn't a lot of snow early in the winter.

Snowmobile crashes killed 36 riders last winter, one fewer than during winter 2004-2005 and three shy of the record 39 during the winter of 1999-2000.Engfer says it's too soon to predict whether this winter will be dramatically safer on the trails.
