About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

A Kalkaska County family is mourning the loss of their 8-year-old daughter following a sledding accident. She died after her sled crashed into a tree. The accident happened around noon Saturday, at the hill in the Springfield Township Park. Police say Carly Belknap and three other kids were sledding down the hill. As parents watched from the bottom, their sled veered to the side and over the edge. The sled crashed in to several trees. Carly was wearing a bicycle helmet, but still suffered severe head injuries and died at the hospital. The three other kids had minor injuries. Grief counselors will be on hand today at South Boardman Elementary School, where Carly was a student.

Sheriff's deputies are investigating a deadly snowmobile accident in Oscoda County. It happened Saturday night on West Helmer Lake Road, west of Mt. Tom Road in Elmer Township. Deputies say Ralph Roth Sr., of Madison Heights, lost control of his snowmobile and hit a tree. Roth was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies believe poor visibility and speed are factors in the accident.
