PASSPORT REGULATIONS NOW IN EFFECT
Starting today, you'll need to pack a passport for countries you've never had to before, including Canada. New government regulations will require air travelers flying into the U.S. from everywhere to show passports, including American citizens and citizens of Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda. It's a big change from just showing a birth certificate or driver's license. The State Department says its had more people applying for passports recently. The travel business roundtable says its own survey found only about 27% of Americans have passports. Canadian and Caribbean officials are worried the new rules will hurt commerce and tourism.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE; I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER HOW THIS WILL AFFECT WINTER TIME TOURISM IN CANADA. After all, I THINK a snowmobile permit in Canada is around $100. Now there is a passport ya have to get to even get into Canada. I can understand the need for all of this, but it is so sad that North Americas have had to resort to it.
